Too bad there wasn't a GP-18 in there, then there'd be one of all of 'em. Close, but no cee-gar! |

Description: |
Having uncouples from the string, the 1746 tries pulling the hopper back on the rails with aid of the usual strategically placed oak blocking and "onlookers". |

Another "OOOPS" |
Description: |
With the first hopper rerailed and moved out of the way, the 1746 was unable to reach the other cars because of the spread rails, so a cable was attached to the facing couplers of the hopper and engine. The 1746 strains mightily, but the car is difficult to move. |

Another "OOOPS" |

This angle shows the cable connection to better advantage. A second engine, the 1722, has been added to assist in hauling the recalcitrant hopper back on to the rails. Also note that the 1722 has it's long hood toward the cable, a small modicum of enhanced safety in case the cable "gives up". |
