Description:  SW-1 27 warms up at the Pioneer Valley's Westfield, MA. yard before the day's work. As the oldest surviving EMD products in New England, the 27, ex B&M 1109, and sister unit 28, ex B&M 1110, were acquired by the Railroad Museum of New England in 1986.

Description:  In a scene reserved for museums today, the 27 has it's friction bearing journals topped off before going to work. One of the Pinsly Lines, the Pioneer Valley is part of a family which also includes the Arkansas Midland, Florida Central, Florida Midland, and Florida Northern. Defunct Pinsly controlled lines were the Frankfort & Cincinnati and the Montpelier & Barre.

Description:  The museum also brought along recently restored B&M SW-1 1109. The 1109 and sister 1110 were formerly employed by the Pioneer Valley RR as their #'s 27 and 28. The cab was open for inspection and yours truly spent some time there as "docent".
